How to Trim your Kitten's Nails? |
Video: Nail Trimming Common Method
Method of Nail Trimming:
First of all, ensure that your trimmer is germ-free (disinfected) so that there is no chance of any disease transmission through it. Cut the very tip of each nail and avoid trimming the pinkish part of it as it contains blood vessels and nerve supply. If you cut that pinkish part, your kitten will feel pain and protest, and most importantly, blood may ooze out which is not a desirable thing during the procedure. It occurs, you can stop bleeding by using tincture benzoin co or even corn starch or floor. Anyway, the best way to avoid bleeding is to cut the very tip of a nail. If your kitten starts struggling during nail trimming, stop the process and try to calm her/him by offering some treats, etc. The first positive experience of your kitten during the nail trimming process will result in less resistance in the future and more cooperative behavior.
keep trimming the nail after every few weeks.
